Audio Drama Community News [May 2018]

It is already the end of May, I would love to say, “I can’t believe it. I keep thinking I will wake up to snow.” Instead, I have been swimming in sweat and damaging my organs by abusing antihistamines. I know what’s coming, and sadly it isn’t winter. Summer is coming, and with it even more allergens and insect invaders. But you aren’t here to read about my issues, you are here to find out what has be going on this month.

Since this is the first Audio Drama Community News post, I will explain a little about these posts. Feel free to skip ahead.

I will be reporting on:

  • Audio dramas that have returned
  • News about the audio dramas we love
  • News about upcoming audio dramas
  • New newsletters and blogs
  • Events
  • Fundraisers, kickstarters, and the like

I want to give a quick update on what has been happening, and what you may have missed. Since this is a brand new feature to the blog, thing have a lot of room to change as we continue.

Look Who’s Back

On May 16th, Dead Signals began the anticipated season 3 of Archive 81, hopefully we will find out what happened to Dan. Every other Wednesday expect another episode full of horror, stories, deals, rituals, and sounds. Episode 1 begins with Nicholas and Christine preforming an ancient ritual they know little about… they quickly learn that you shouldn’t mess with things that you know nothing about.

On May 20th, Ozark Whispers premiered season 2 with the return of Vincent Vangetti. His first mission, now that he is out of hiding, is to find out who is killing off the witches in Eureka Springs. A new episode is released every Saturday, listen and discover the supernatural happenings of Eureka Springs.

The Strange Case of Starship Iris is back, it actually happened in April, but I am still excited about it. We might finally learn about the nanobot swarm and how the Republic is spying on the crew of the Iris.

Saying Goodbye

All stories have an end, and there are 3 audio dramas that are ending.

Our Fair City is coming to an end after 8 seasons. If you are unfamiliar with Our Fair City, it is an audio drama where a life insurance company has become an underground city. Sort of like that scene in Blood Drive where they come across the corporate group of survivors. People are now policies of HartLife and they need to follow the terms and conditions or run the risk of being terminated.

The Bright Sessions will be ending after 3 seasons and I am not ready. I began listening to The Bright Sessions when I first started listening to audio dramas, and it helped me get through a very difficult time. If you are unfamiliar with it, The Bright Sessions is “therapy for the strange and unusual,” It follows the lives of a group of therapy patients with super powers.

ars PARADOXICA will also be ending after 3 seasons. Dr. Sally Grissom accidentally ends up traveling to the past when something goes wrong during an experiment. While in the past she teams up with the US government to discover how she did it. But time travel and the government are a bad combination.

Upcoming Audio Dramas

StarTripper!! is about Feston Pyxis, a file clerk that decides to follow his dreams. He quits his job and discovers what the galaxy has to offer. Episode 1 and 2 will be released June 2nd, 2018.

Magic King Dom will be releasing a teaser on June 2nd, 2018.

1994, a teen road-trip comedy recently announced the cast in a tweet

Fund It

There are a few audio dramas that are trying to raise money to get their stories heard, if you are able to, help make it happen.

The Ghost Radio Project has 60 days left to raise $1,790. Listen to their pilot episodes and spare whatever you can to make this audio drama happen. You can donate HERE.

Unplaced is seeking funding for season 2, they have a month left. If you like urban fantasy, then you should listen to this audio drama. If you are able to, you should help make season 2 happen. You can back it HERE.

That wraps this month’s Audio Drama Community News post. If you have any comments, suggestions, or something else you can email me at or reach out to me on twitter.
